How to tell Bluetooth vs ANT+ connections?

I can't seem to determine how to tell if sensors are connecting via ANT+ or via Bluetooth?

I have several sensors (Stryd, Scosche Rhythm HRMs) that can connect via either ANT+ or Bluetooth, however I want them to connect to my 945 via ANT+ whenever possible (allowing another device to connect via Bluetooth - like my phone).  Anyone know how you can specify this?  Apologies if I totally overlooked this in the menus and the manual.

  • I just found an old Scosche Rhythm+ that I had not yet connected to my 945 so i was able to start this process over from scratch.

Did "Search all sensors" and within seconds it had found the Scosche and beneath that (as Garmin-Blake and Jstpassaro described above) it said "BT Devices" with the down arrow indicating you could connect that way.

Instead I pressed the "start/enter" button to connect via ANT+, but strangely that took me straight to the connection screen for BT as well.  I pressed lap/back instead and that took me back out to the sensors menu showing it as connected.  I think perhaps this might have been my issue originally, I passed through this Bluetooth menu for each sensor as well, connecting them as BLE in addition to ANT+.  However I want NO dual-band devices to connect to my 945 via BLE, I want ANT+ only if I have the choice.

I appreciate all the answers and info from everyone, very helpful.

One thing I learned here is that you can view the connection type by going into the sensor and choosing "about" which shows ANT or BL under the "tech" heading.  This can only be done when the device is connected though!  Otherwise that menu option isn't even shown.
