Maps Installation + Update

Hello,

Using Garmin Express I could update the maps:

1- It shows me I have updated maps (picture attached)

2- Most of the time the download starts and fails after a couple of seconds but with some data showing as downloaded

3- Eventually I am shown a red bar with the message "We are unable to download the updates" ( picture attached)

This happened on the very first connection and ever since.

Any assistance welcome.

I am in the same situation as Steven and Vani - trying to update to topoactive africa v6.0 maps on Garmin 945 fails with identical error message.

You have to have around 10 Gb of free memory. CN EU 2019.10 is about 3Gb larger than 2018.10 in this device (sorry, do not know about US version). If you used device and put a lot of music on it or 3rd party maps like OSM img files, then remove it. After upda you will get around 5 Gb free.

Hello

I am from South and purchased through south africa. There is a map to download in Garmin express . Map installatio always times out with the following message. I removed all music and have about 9.43GB of available space. Please assist as i have tried a couple of times with the same error message returning.

I have exactly the same problem. Also from S.A.

Running V3.3 on the Forerunner945 - trying to update to TopoActive Africa V6.0

Have also followed advice on ensuring space is available \ hard reset of watch \ reinstalling Garmin Express.

Nothing appears to resolve the problem - the error appears after the message "Activating maps" shows on Garmin Express during the installation process.

Looking forward to a solution from Garmin\anyone else.

I am now wondering whether to delete the map files from the watch which will free up another 4GB. But will wait for some advice from Garmin first.

Don't bother - I tried that already...and it didn't work

Let's hope we get an answer soon.

I am in the same situation too! Tried to install multiple times this evening. Hope Garmin can provide some guidance on this issue.

Avoid hoping and contact Garmin Support directly.

I've just tried again and its working now. I am fairly sure this was a backend change, as opposed to anything I've done on my watch or PC, but cant say for certain as I have added and removed various podcasts since trying originally.
