Map Quality (Looking at purchasing maps from Talkytoaster)

My deciding factor to upgrade to the 945 from the 935 was maps and the fact I didn't want a heavier Fenix.  I must say I'm a little disappointed in the quality of the maps provided on the watch.  I live in the Cascade Mountain Range, so more detail, especially with contour, is a must for me.  I've downloaded a free map of Washington State with contour lines, but this and other maps Garmin has seems lacking in detail.  I came across Talkytoaster Maps and I'm very impressed with the quality of the TT 1:50K Look n Feel maps they provide.  The following questions are for anyone who uses Talkytoaster Maps and can give me some insight.  First and most importantly.  Is the contour elevation provided on these maps in feet or meters.  I would assume feet since that's what's used in the US, but it is an UK company.  Secondly, what do you think about these maps?  Is it worth $34 to purchase?  Thanks ahead of time!

  • That's where I'm a little confused with the website. I don't see an "automatic" download for Washington. I understood that the "electronic" delivery is for Basecamp only.

Hopefully the screen grabs below will steer you in the right direction.

Thank you. That answers my elevation question and even though I wasn't expecting until at least tomorrow, Martin from Talkytoaster just replied and sent me a link to the correct map for my 945.  Thanks everyone for the info.

Update:  So, I was looking to purchase the wrong map.  What I thought was going to be a $34 purchase was actually only $15.  Much better than the standard Garmin map and very pleased with my purchase.
