Is there any way to install the maps installed on device?

Hi,

I have a European Garmin 945 so obviously have the Europe maps installed but am currently holidaying in Australia and wondering if it is possible to change the installed maps to Australia? I have my laptop with Garmin Express and when I plug in my 945 it has the map options lists for each region but if you click map options it just says 'reinstall the map that is currently loaded to the device'

If I switch my device from 'MTP' to 'Garmin' will it come up as a USB device and then I could delete the map to free up space and then I would maybe be able to install a new map from Garmin Express or am I just wasting my time?

tommy060289 micchei are you using a Mac? Sounds to me like you are, if you're not seeing the watch's file system in MTP mode.

If you're using a Mac, you need to download the Android File Transfer…

Grab the opensource maps for Australia from here and install http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl

What you say is what I do with edge. BUT with 945 I'm not able to load the map in. Do you know how to load?

If you use "garmin" mode...nothing happens, only recharge battery.

If you're using a Mac, you need to download the Android File Transfer app:

Side note: @-mentions are broken in this forum... >_> You can't just type "@somebody", you have to type it and hope that the auto-complete popup comes up (don't type too fast), then you have to press ENTER to select a name from the popup. I can tell this is affecting others by the number of broken @-mentions I see in other posts.... While this forum platform is def an improvement over the previous, there seem to be a lot of overengineered features that don't "just work"....

Thanks but I hope garmin solves this problem. It's very difficult for me to download Android things in my Mac.

It's not a problem in that none of Garmin watches with music have a mass store mode, just MTP. (a non Apple Media device) I guess if it is a problem, it's that Apple that needs to support MTP as Windows does..

I say that with 935..edge..all Garmins I had, I connected with usb and a folder opened. Just for clear, for segment, for tracks, for maps.

I'm happy You are ok with this MTP(I don't know it). What I say is... please Garmin, give us back the mass storage. I went away from Suunto for this reason...and now with Garmin is the same! Terrible!
