Apple AirPods work?

I know there's a separate thread on headsets, but I thought I'd ask a more specific question on AirPods. They don't seem to work well on other Garmins, but I'm hoping they work well with the 945. Would love any feedback on both the original AirPods as well as the AirPod 2.
  • I use spotify so i just held down the down button to bring up the spotify menu. Once I select a playlist, I am asked which headphones to use (I have a few paired to the watch) I also had the option to add new headphones. Once I select that I put my airpods into pairing mode and the watch finds them. When you say your watch just crashes, can you be more specific as to when it crashes?

  • Well, to answer my original question, I’ve been also using my original AirPods with the 945 and have no issues at all. They work great!

  • I had the watch start "crashing" when trying to play music this morning, weird connectivity, wouldn't start music etc.  Traced it back to a Connect IQ app I installed last night called "Battery Widget" - once I uninstalled the app (different than removing it from menu) through Connect and powered the watch off and on , everything came back to normal - have been able to reproduce by installing again, so if you are experiencing errors I would check what other Connect IQ apps you have installed and perhaps start from scratch on the watch.

  • I have 6.3.2 I've wiped the watch and started again. Still won't connect and crashes every time I try and pair.

  • My original AirPods work great. The only minor drop outs I’ve had where when standing still in a large parking lot, with my left wrist as my side. Once I started moving it was perfect.

Garmin, come on, fix this. You make great products but you need to solve issues faster. There is clearly a bug, why should the watch freeze and need a restart because it's not able to connect to a bluetooth headset? Support us that believe in you!
Also, what a great thing having "Apple people" with airpods wanting to use a Garmin watch instead of an Apple Watch!

    WORKAROUND:

I was getting the same watch-freezing error trying to pair Garmin Fenix 5 plus with Airpods 1st gen.
Here is the procedure I followed to finally be able to use my airpods:

    • open bluetooth settings on iphone, click on the "i" next to airpods, then open airpods case and press "unpair this device" on the phone (not "disconnect"); unpair from icloud and everything if asked
    • turn off your iphone and any nearby ios device you own
    • open music app on watch, select play, select connect new eadphones
    • open airpods case, press button on case
    • airpods now connected!
    • now you can re-add the airpods to your phone: you will be able to use them with the phone, but the watch will be able to connect to the airpods when needed
    • leave your phone at home and RUN!
  • do the airpods stay in ok whilst running?

Depends on the person. Stays in for me. Left ear is a little loose. Some say they can't wear them running because they fall out. You will just need to try.

  • I have not had any problems with the airpods with my 945.  I had more problems with getting the music widget to work but all great now.

I’m having problems connecting my apple airpod 2 with 945 as well.

i have also tried to remove the AirPod from my phone and iCloud but was not successful and it just hangs the watch every time. Hopefully Garmin is able to fix on this issue
