Bug: Spectator Messaging not working without LTE

Since I canceled my LTE Subscription the spectator messages aren't working when I use livetrack with my phone. Tracking is working fine but the messages are not delivered during the run. The messages arrive when my watch is syncing with my wifi after the run.

Why is Tracking working but not spectator messaging without LTE? Anyone else has the same behaviour?

This same thing happens to me even with a LTE subscription. Seems like the messages can only come through on wifi for some reason?

It was also discussed here 2 years ago with no resolution... Disappointing…

I did try a behind the desk exercise and then I had no messages revieved as well. I'll have to think and try a proper one later to see if it works.

I’m hesitant to report an interaction with Garmin reps as “the truth,” but in trying to troubleshoot a Spectator Messaging issue I received the following message from a support rep: “That is correct, the 945 LTE was the first watch to have spectator messaging and it is required for that device has an active LTE subscription to use that feature.”

Spectator Messages via Bluetooth was introduced with Version 7.07:

"Added Spectator Messaging over Bluetooth (New Feature) - Spectators can now send you messages over your phone’s Bluetooth connection in addition to LTE."

Yep, but this interaction was way after that software update. I’d suggest contacting support and see what you lead.

did another try. Now during a run i web messaged myself. It came in about 45 minutes when i was home. So not sure it is only wifi related because it could connect all that time.

With 17.28, the bug is still there.

Can send a message, but message is only recieved some time after the workout.
