I did remove the CIQ data field in favor of the native data field that is now available after the SW update.
It records it without showing Power on any screens, yes. I guess it's like other native sensors / data you may have - you don't need to have Heart Rate on a data screen to record heart rate.
I…
Yes, now you do not need the field. I never used the field, so don't have experience with the field and new firmware... but with new firmware w/o the field I see Power being recorded using my HRM PRO strap…
I didn't have the IQ data field before and didn't install/setup up any data field now and still have running power, so I assume no.

I have removed it now and changed to the native data field. I hope it'll work!
How do you actively change that?
I didn't have any IQ data fields before and still don't have any. Yet my watch records running power. O_o

I think the message above is merely saying that if you want to see the Running Power during the activity then you would add the native field to a Data Screen now.
Heart Rate on a data screen to record heart rate.
before you need a CIQ data field to collect the data even with HRM. I hope the data is still used from the HRM while using it.
I was unsure how the power is stored when you have both data fields active. CIQ and native data field

I previously (and still do) have a Stryd sensor with the Stryd field. This causes a Stryd Power CIQ data field to also show up - sort of two power plots now.
I imagine if you have the field with the new firmware you may end up seeing two plots as well - one recorded natively and the other with the CIQ field. Since your's are both the "same" data source (HRM strap) they should also basically match - in my case the Stryd numbers are scaled dramatically different and thus cause some weirdness now.
Oh this makes sense.
So before 7.11 -> you needed the data field to record and see the running power from the HRM
since 7.11 -> you can have the new data field to *see* the running power from the HRM , BUT it'll be recorded even without
So besides pods I only get power data using a Garmin chest belt and not with my Polar H10?
Sure. This was never otherwise.

All you need is a compatible Garmin watch and one of these four accessories: HRM-Pro, HRM-Run, HRM-Tri or the Running Dynamics Pod.
