If the watch is using Spectator Messaging via Bluetooth connection, how is it possible to also connect the earbuds via Bluetooth to the watch? Can the watch handle multiple bluetooth connections simultaneously?

the watch, when paired with headphones, is acting as a Bluetooth Classic “Host” connecting to the Headphones as a device/peripheral.

it also acts as a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) peripheral connected to your phone (as the “host”). (This would be the connection used to background sync, do livetrack without LTE and now spectator messaging without LTE).

further, it can act as a BLE “host” to connect to BLE sensors during your activity.

in short, yes, it can have many different “bluetooth” connections.
