Garmin 945LTE beta program?

Anyone Know if the 945LTE will benefit of the beta program like the others watches ? 955, fenix 6 and 7 and epix 2?

  • They claimed it would approx 6 weeks ago (coming soon).  But it hasn’t come yet.  In that time I think they added 3-4 other models to the beta program.

We did get the alpha 6.04 when they made the claim (and we have the beta/alpha forum with that) but otherwise it’s been silent.

DCrainmaker claims we’re getting 955 features (I.e. HRV) in an alpha/beta here in August.  With how lacking and delayed everything has been since launch it’s all becoming a “believe it when you see it” situation.

  • The beta program does exist, it was used for FW 6.04.

Timeline is still unknown and features ported are unknown. Garmin's focus right now is updating the Fenix with 955 features. Other devices haven't had any "real" beta development. So maybe this winter ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Maybe I'm wrong, but I think the beta program is supposed to include a setting within your Garmin Connect Device page to "join" the beta.

It's true the 6.04 Alpha was provided for this watch in conjunction with a new forum area to provide feedback, but the alpha build is still a manual download and deploy.

I think the "new" beta program that Garmin spoke of some months ago (first launched on other watches) was a sort of combination of wirelessly loading RC (Release Candidate) Beta to devices that signed up (via connect) AND Alpha builds that are manually loaded via USB (the former Beta images available on forums).

Somewhat semantics, but I think there are still steps missing to be on parity with the other watches in what Garmin is calling their new / enhanced beta program.

  • It is but Garmin has only been using this format for their latest FW and right now it only seems like Fenix 7 line is getting updates. See the Beta program forum for the Fenix 7.

955, 945 & 245 haven't had any "new" FW updates hence they don't follow this format.
