Major bug: 945 lte battery drain after activities

First scenario: start with 100%,  do a run, 3 devices connected: headphones, Stryd, HR sensor. After this activity battery drains down to 0% in about 15 hours.
Second scenario: start with 100%, do a run, same 3 devices. But after the run is finished I switch the watch off and back on (restart). After this the drain is about 10%/24hours (normal).

It seems that something is not being shut down correctly after the activity is finished.

Second issue, possibly related: if I start the run again without restarting the watch - Stryd CIQ field cannot initialize properly, requiring me to switch the watch off/back on again.

I'm on regular 4.16 firmware.

  • I was hit by this today. I woke up to my watch being completely turned off, battery was at 0%.

So should I always restart my watch after an activity? Is this the stone age or what?

  • I got hit by this issue as well. I have the STRYD sensor and my battery is draining 30% or more per day. Should I delete the data field?

  • I solved it like this:

    • unpair/delete your Stryd from the watch
    • uninstall the data field from your watch
    • scan for new sensors ("Search all") on your watch (not for a footpod) - this way, my watch has found the Stryd as a Bluetooth device
      • you can tell it by its name, there are no numbers in its name if it's connected via BT
      • pair the Stryd as BT device
      • now open its settings and *disable it*
    • search for the Stryd again as a footpod and pair it as an ANT+ device (you will see its name like "FP-12345")
      • set the speed and distance settings from indoor to "always"
      • turn off auto-calibration
    • now install the Connect IQ Data Field (Stryd Zones)
    • open your watch in the mobile Garmin Connect app, go to "Activities & Applications" --> "Data fields"
      • open its settings
      • set the number which is in the device name of your Stryd in the ANT ID field
      • set your username to your Stryd user name (you can check this in the Stryd app somewhere under options)

Now you should be good to go.

Since then, I never had a battery drain issue, and my Stryd had to be charged today for the first time after 3 weeks (~ 250 km) as well.
