Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Forerunner 945 LTE to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Forerunner945LTE_407Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the Garmin folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  3. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  • does this update include finally giving us the Battery Saver settings as described in the manual? (not sure if this is considered a minor bug fix)

  • Does this update including any fix to the airplane mode bug or the fast drain between 100%-80% battery charge?

  • Good to add

    • Improve workout set editor by remembering previously entered weight.

But there is still similar issue with Indoor Climbing and selecting the Difficulty level - it always starts at II. At FR945 (non-LTE), this issue is not present.

  • Small update after 5 months. See the last beta of Epix or Fenix 7, for example... Not even the airplane mode bug to disconnect connections has been fixed Disappointed

  • I seem to be stuck in an update loop. Every few minutes I am prompted to perform an update. If I postpone, I have a few hours of peace, if I install, the prompt comes again after a few minutes.
Under System > Info the firmware 5.07 is shown as installed.

I try to go back to 4.16.

  • no extra cycling profiles like some of the newer and other models get? Or fixing the connection stability?

  • So what new function or bug fix justifies a completely new version number from 4 to 5? I can't even find a word about the fact that the swimming pool errors have been fixed - although Garmin is aware of them. The Forerunner 945/945 LTE is the classic triathlon watch. The three sports swimming, cycling and running should be flawless and state of the art in every respect (it's shameful that Garmin's flagship still doesn't support native running power). These things would be 1000 times more important than new sports like pickleball, paddle and snowshoe - you've got to be kidding. Garmin: concentrate on the really important things - otherwise I'm sure I'm not the only one who will soon switch to the competition!

  • Update does nothing to resolve horrible battery life.  installed the update just over 1hr ago, battery was at 100% already down 10%.  That's with WIFI, LTE and Pulse ox turned off.  Looks like this watch is a $600 paper weight, to go along with my 645M.

  • that's really discouraging to hear. have you contacted Garmin about your battery life woes. 100->10% during an update is ridiculous. when i told them i was disappointed with my battery life (nowhere near as bad as yours, but not as good as my 935 and less than specs), they were willing to send me a new watch thinking it might be hardware. i am pretty sure my watch isn't defective due to the rate of burn is similar to others here but yours is ridiculous: i would contact them and try to get a new unit.

i've grown used to my 8-9%/day smartwatch consumption and 3%/hour GPS activity burn. disappointing but workable. i honestly am only asking them to implement the Battery Saver mode suggested in the manual and is there for the Fenix 6 and 7... it would be great to save a few extra bits of battery while sleeping with a lower powered watch face, etc. (and of course make sure the BT is really sleeping when put into airplane mode)...i think that alone would get me much closer to spec for smartwatch mode. (i have no complaints of battery consumption during GPS activities...it's right in line with the specified 35 hours)

(now for other little bugs...i'm frustrated but living with them as the watch is doing 95% of what i want it to do... but frustrating for a "flagship running watch.")

  • I installed it "day 1" when it was posted and have used it for my normal usage since (about a week?):

4x GPS Runs - 3 with LTE less than 1 hr, 1 longer run.  No noted issues

1x Indoor Ride w/ ANT sensors - No noted issue

3x lap swims - one failed to record distance (also saw this once early with 4.16, but never since).

I see the controls widget for Alarms properly shows the next "On" alarm (vs first in the list) and "backing" out of my alarm list properly returns me to the item I had entered into (previously it would return to a different item in the alarm list).

I also quickly tried a body battery watchface and noted it showed properly - although I am still using a default watchface.

Power draw looks to be about the same for my usage with the beta (I see about 0.5-0.6% per hour drain).

Your caution is probably good, but my 2 usage is showing no new notable issues.
