4 months without updates

Where is the next update?

Is this the love that Garmin have to the best (and expensive) forerunner ever?

4 months (or more) to the next beta, and 1 month more for the release (if they don't break anything ith the update). I think this is a bad joke.

We need bugs fixed :(

I will never again defend Garmin's update rate against Polar or other companies.

  • I for myself have two explanations:

either backporting some of the promised features from the Fenix 7 lineup takes its time (and only started somehen around the F7 release) but will be done to get a bigger shared code base with those models (if so, it could be we have to wait longer but get a bigger software update, not unusual for Garmin),

or other models like the Fenix 6, Venu 2 and Forerunner 745/945 had to catch up with the 945LTE (mainly Connect IQ version 5!!) to get a bigger shared code base with those models and which the got just in the last two weeks (if so, if could be that we´ll get a beta when they get their next).

Bugfixing should be done, but I believe that human resources are thinly spread between all those projects of the last half a year. That´s why big shared code bases are important.

No matter what, sometime in the future, software development will take up pace again. *fingercrossed* But keep in mind that even normally, the Forerunner 935/945 line up gets software updates about every two to three months, so we´re not THAt far off.
