Watch face when key lock

I recently upgraded from the 935 to the 945 lte. And there is one thing I can not get my head around. Since I do a fair amount of activities where the buttons in the watch get punched by misstake I often use the key lock feature. In the 935 that would still leave me in the activity mode so I can see measurements, intervals etc. but for the 945 lte I am forced to the watch face view.

so - my question - how do I change this setting? So that I am kept in the activity view instead of just seeing the watch face? I have tried to read the manual and look at the menu but I seem to miss the section where this is described ;-)

You can update that in the Auto lock settings: https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-2BA30752-33FB-42B8-8484-69C491706113/EN-US/GUID-1500E73F-F386-49AF-A542-25D4B1655A08.html It will give you four options to choose from (Off, Always, During Activity, and Not During Activity)

I have the same issue. It’s not controlled by hot keys as that allows just stops it from cancelling but it forced a watch face no the activity

Can you explain how that setting will prevent us from getting the watch face when I force a key lock by pressing predefined hot key? I do not want to always have key lock on for all activities. Just some.

I tested on my end and see what you are talking about and was able to reproduce it. Would it be alright to reach out to you through email to gather info and open an investigation?

Hello Garmin-Luke, I have the same behavior - when I lock the buttons with a hotkey while an activity is on, the screen jumps into watch face. Also during that, the GPS gets disabled (if the activity has GPS set to on). When I unlock the keys and return to the activity, the GPS gets available again.

sorry to hear about this. this is rooted in a related issue i reported to Garmin months ago -- hot keying to the watch face/widgets should not disable the GPS. it never did this on my 935 and i know of other fenix and older forerunner users who concur that previous watches/firmwares allowed the GPS to keep logging even when not having the activity live on the screen.

i hope Garmin figures this out. i've had to consciously not use the hotkey when hiking/running which i would often do with my 935 because of this problem. i have no clue why they introduced this step backward in how the 945 LTE functions.
