945LTE Golf Features

I understand this watch is intended to be a triathlon watch but I use it quite a bit for golf.  I actually preferred this watch to the S62 and Fenix due to its size and weight.  Those watches just felt too heavy on my wrist for a sport like golf.  Is there any reason that the golf features of the Fenix can't be added to the forerunner 945 LTE?  Its my understanding these watches share a lot of the same features for other sports.  Getting whole hole view or plays like distance would be great!

On another note, has anyone had any issues with the golf gps disconnecting often during a round?  I had an old S20 previously any never had any issues with staying connected.

Thanks!

  • GPS disconnecting?  What do you mean by that?  I haven't had any issues.  If you haven't already, i'd turn on Activity Tracking so that it records an activity in addition to the score card.  To do this, before you start your round, go to the list of activities - Golf, Running, Cycling, etc.  From this activity list, make sure Golf is selected, and long press the middle left button to bring up the menu.  Under Golf Settings, there will be an option to enable activity tracking.  Once you start the round, this option is no longer present.

As to adding the full golf functionality of the Fenix line?  I wouldn't hold my breath.  Slowly features have been trickling down, like the last shot banner showing your current distance along the top was finally added to Forerunners. But Fenix devices have always been closer in functionality to the actual golf devices than the Forerunner and other Fitness group devices.
