Low heart rate while exercising

This is not directly a 845 lte question but I can't think of where else to post. When I do my runs my heart rate for my steady 14:00 paced runs have a very low ahr - usually between a 100-105. Today for a 13:47 paced run (i am old and slow so this pace is not 2 minutes slower than an average pace) was 87. I have used a garmin chest strap and a polar bicep strap and results are similar so it is not the 945's fault.

Sitting my hr is usually in the 50s. If i walk my dog for a 15 minute walk my heart rate (while going much slower than my run) gets up into the 90s.

Can anyone tell me where to go to get further information. I really don't know if my hr is accurate or not.

BTW, for sleeping, my resting hr is between 48-53 so the problem is just exercising.

I appreciate any help[ given.

  • if you chest strap and bicep strap are consistent, i'd do one final check of measuring it directly yourself by clock and feeling for your pulse. i'm suspecting it's real, and not bering a doctor, the next step, if you confirm manual measurements are a low HR is to consult with a doctor. good luck and take care!

(i find occasional/momentary drops in HR with a chest strap if i am running on a trail or trip or take an awkward step which i think causes a momentary shift in the chest strap)
