My guess is the coverage map is not accurate. I would report this to Garmin Support.

Just wondering is LTE coverage working on your phone when you're trail running? 

And all kinds of disclaimers regarding the coverage map, but your area seems to be mostly in the "red" available zone.

Sorry I forgot to mention, I do have cell phone connectivity when I go trail running. But I can’t See if it’s LTE, 3G or 4G. And yeah, when you Live south of St. Lawrence River, you’re mostly in the red zone. So in theory it should work everywhere. But obviously it doesn’t. Maybe It has something to do with all the disclaimers.

I haven’t tried sending messages and only really do road running, but I generally have Autostart LiveTrack on and run in areas without tree cover with expected good coverage.

Randomly during my runs I hear a notice and look down to see LiveTrack having issues (stopping / resuming).  I have power save turned on, so am not sure if the time between a resume and stopped LiveTrack means that whole time was an LTE gap or if it just happens based on random luck at the ~5 minute update frequency.

I’m in the US, roughly an outer-ring suburb of a metropolitan area.

• my guess is if you received that kind of message you lost the LTE connection for a while. I just used live track once. it drained the battery a lot. So I don’t use it much often. How much does it drain your battery when you’re using live track?

Agree that I assume it means it lost LTE during that window.  Feels odd though given my environment is probably fairly ideal (lack of cover, fairly well populated, flat land, good cellular when using phone.

LTE power save (reduced update rate to the cloud) really helps and I’d say it’s around 6%/hr like this (w/o music).  The LiveTrack does not seem to backfill data between the 5 minute updates (course looks very lacking in detail) but I figure it provides a level of safety yet (my wife would likely find me).

Indeed it’s odd. In that configuration you shouldn’t Lose LTE connectivity. I didn’t think of it. I will try LTE power saving mode. Last time I used live track, I lost approximately 10% per hour.But I wasn’t using the power save mode.
