For best results start your activity on the track running on the track.
My first track run I ran 1.5 miles warmup from home to the track and noticed the track was not nicely plotted by GPS as I had hoped / expected. Later I searched DCR’s review of the track mode feature and noted a comment about starting on the track.
Maybe if you previously “learn” the track with a past run then a future run could start off the track?
Cooldown should be ok wherever, the start is more important as it is used to learn the track.
my latest plan for track running (from home) is do to a custom multi sport where I use “Run” to get to the track then switch to “Track Run” once there and possibly switch back to “Run” to get home. This makes for a more unique file and separate Strava activities for each “sport” but is an idea at least…
