Forerunner 945 alert vibration strength and frequency

I am interested in using the Forerunner 945 for running in a heart rate zone. My concern is the vibration alert. I have a Fenix 3 and the vibration alert is imperceptible, and only occurring every 30 seconds. When I am running I need something to provide a noticeable alert, preferable frequently, to get my attention. I do not want use the sound alert in conjunction. My current Polar watch does a great job alerting me when I am out of the zone, but does not have nearly the breadth of analysis that the Garmin does. Does the 945 provide a high and frequent vibration. Or, is there a way to adjust the watch to provide this notification?

  • You can either select a structured workout, or set up a heart rate alerts in Run settings. There's no direct equivalent of Polar Zone Lock in Garmin.

If you use structured workouts and are outside the zone you planned, the watch would notify you multiple times, with intervals between notifications steadily increasing. I think after about 2 minutes it would leave you be. Alerts will buzz periodically as long as you aren't compliant.

If you have headphones connected (say, for music), you will also hear an out-of-range notification in your headphones. Like "heart rate too high".

Buzz strength isn't as strong as on Polar devices, but way stronger than Suunto or COROS.
