STRYD Zones and STRYD Power data field issue

Been using STRYD Power and then the newer version STRYD Zones as a data field for my running activities since 2017 on Garmin 735 then 935 then 945 and now 945 LTE. It is necessary to have this data field on one screen and Stryd connected as a foot pod to the watch in order to get the specific Stryd metrics (IQ metrics) for running activities.

It does work on the 945 LTE but what happens is the STRYD date field is considered active for all activities (shown in any activity report) and not only in activities in which the data field is installed on one activity page. So a swim will show the STRYD IQ logo and graphs even if empty... no big deal because this activity has no power in it !

But for a BIKE activity, the power is now saved as STRYD IQ power, not as native power and as a consequence is not recognized by TrainingPeaks or other training platforms. The fit file has an empty power column and the power is stored as IQ POWER which is not recognized for a bike ride by training platforms !

Talked with TrainingPeaks about it first, they told me what the issue was. Then talked with Stryd about it and they explained after looking deeply into that issue that it was not a STRYD Data Field issue but a Garmin 945 LTE issue.

Hope this can be solve either in a Beta firmware update of a general public one.

Anybody else facing the same problem when using the watch for running with Stryd but also other activities that include a powermeter ?

  • Same issue with me. I have to uninstall stryd before bike work outs and install for the run. Really fun doing transition runs! Pensive

  • I'm not sure that I see this...

I use a Stryd for my running activities and have the data field "Stryd Zones" on one of my screens there.

On my bike and swim profiles I don't have any ConnectIQ data fields.  I pretty much always have a power meter recorded during my bike activities, but I don't see the developer fields or connectIQ data field notice in Garmin Connect for the Bike/Swim activities.

I don't use TrainingPeaks, so can't speak to that...

I am running beta firmware 4.07 in case it makes a difference.

  • Thanks to both of you for your feedbacks.

Tried with beta 4.07 firmware last evening after reading your message nord0296 and it worked !!! Finally my 945 LTE is ok to use in activities that include power datas that are not running with Stryd related ! That is awesome !

Hopefully it comes into the next non beta firmware too, as I'd rather use the latest version of the standard firmware rather than a beta one if I can...

    Thanks again !

  • Replying to myself... for some reasons it stopped working after the last time I connected my watch to Garmin Express to upload a couple of podcasts (of course it's not related). So now it's either DataRun Premium or Stryd Zones... but not both running together in my Run activity !

So the Stryd Zones in all activities was solved, but now as a running watch I'm very unhappy as I can't run Stryd Zones on one page and Datarun Premium on the next page.

So I guess I have to remove firmware beta 4.07 to go back to the latest "stable" firmware which absolutely wasn't stable... yeaaaah !
