Auto-pause not working

I have auto-pause set to "When Stopped" for the Running activity, but it never seems to kick in even on long multi-minute pauses. Any tips?

Is it during “free runs” or during “run workouts” with specific steps or constraints. Auto-pause only works during free runs for me, which makes sense to me.

Ah - this is in the "Open Interval" training mode. Wish that it was an option to turn on here as well, but this now makes more sense. Thanks for the tip!
