My Forerunner 745 does not sync time from Garmin Connect on my Samsung Android phone, hence the time drifts and is shown incorrectly on the watch. Very annoying! Sync FROM the 745 TO the phone works just fine, but for some reason, the time is not synced back to the 745. Time is however updated when I turn on the GPS, which I rarely do. Customer support in Norway "has never heard of this before", and advised me to perform a factory reset, before returning the device as faulty. Before I attempted the factory reset, I asked a colleague who has a Forerunner 255 Music. He has exactly the same experience, which makes me suspect a general problem. Is this problem well known, and does it have a solution, except having to turn on GPS every now and then?
I'm am quite surprised that the watch does not have a more flexible setting for time sync. The watch is connected to my WiFi (-> internet) and my phone (BlueTooth), which also is connected to the internet. It would make sense to be able to select between GPS, phone and NTP (via DHCP, DNS or fixed IP address) as time source. The watch can do just about everything, except show the correct time, which is kind of ironic for a watch.
