Daily Suggested Workouts and multidevice sync

Supposedly the DSW quality improves if you are wearing your watch all the time. I wear a Forerunner 745 for exercise and a Vivosmart 5 the rest of the time (including for sleep).

Do the FR745's DSW suggestions take into account the data from the Vivosmart? Would I get substantially more personalized DSW suggestions if I wore the FR all the time?

  • The Vivosmart line is not compatible with the unified training status apparently

Therefore the training information (in particular in this case the HRV status) will be incomplete on the Forerunner.

Garmin recommends to get training readiness data from all-day wearing, including the night.

So yes, your training readiness data will be more accurate if you were to wear a Unified Traing Status compatible device 24h/24h.

The key word you use is "substantially". It is a hard one to predict the impact of partially missing data when so many variables are taken into account.

I would guess you would not notice a difference in the suggestions. However your training metrics will be affected by the lack of HRV status and history. I don't know if the sleep tracking and rest HR of the vivosmart make it to the Forerunner at all. If they don't, the training metrics of the HRV will be off.

Long story short, if you really care about the training metrics, wear the Forerunner all the time. If you just look for a suggested workout, it is less important.
