elevation problems

Since a few months I have this problems with the elevation/descent while running with my forerunner 745.... I tried to recalibrate with the gps.... And restarted the wach... but the problem still goes on.....

Also I cleaned carefully the sensor holes back in the watch where the sensor is....

Any suggestions??

  • It's happened twice to me in the last 2 weeks. It has been happening regularly ever since I bought the FR745, despite buying it over the FR245 because of the more advanced altimeter.

This is really irritating, and is making me wonder whether my next watch will be a Garmin (despite having only used Garmin devices since 2008).

  • Also on most runs the final elevation when I arrive back to my start point (home) is not the same as the elevation recorded when I set off.
Very irritating as well, again especially so that the FR745 is supposed to have a more advanced altimeter than cheaper models in the FR range.

  • Have a look at the older threads in this forum, it’s a well known software issue since July 2022, introduced with firmware 11.xx. Currently the only viable fix is downgrading your watch to 10.40.

  • Thanks. Yes I was aware of that, although downgrading the software is not a satisfactory solution. I was just adding my experience in here, the more people complain, the more likely it is the issue will be looked at (at least that's what should happen).

  • All, we have a few different threads regarding this topic. Please see the newest one for future updates: Sudden altitude drop during activity
