Garmin, could we please have the update? People living in Asia have been waiting since December for an update to their Garmin watch... Then there was this press release in August: Garmin rolls out improved health monitoring and user experience with latest software updates | Pressroom | Garmin Singapore
- But all we got in v 9.60 was a single bugfix – Finally fixing workout animations that have never worked for us since the watch was released!
We did not get any of this that was in the press release:
- Newly added sports activities: Jump Rope
- Added Enhanced Strength functionality,
- Improvements made to on-device sleep detection
- etc etc
Why did they call it version 9.60 considering we didn’t get anything that westerners got in previous releases? Garmin: Forerunner 745 Updates & Download
- Pickleball and Padel activities.
- New HIIT activity. Workouts can be downloaded from Garmin Connect.
- New bike activities, including eBike, eMTB, Cyclocross, Gravel Bike, Bike Commute, Bike Tour, and Road Bike.
- New Tennis activity.
- New Snowshoe activity.
- Added support for Connect IQ system 5.
- Updated incident detection to better distinguish between supported and unsupported activities
- Updates to Garmin Pay.
- Improvements to the resting heart rate algorithm.
- Minor SpO2 updates to improve messaging
- Etc…
- We didn’t get any of this!!!
None of the competitor products provide this restriction to people living in Asia - you get the full functionality of the device... this discrimination applies even to latest high-end devices like Fenix 7 or Epix... Cannot join the beta program if you are from Asia...and prevented from putting ROW firmware. How can they continue to sell these devices here knowing that they are not fully supported?
Potential buyers in Asia must know they should rather get a competitor device next time. I didn’t know this when I bought Garmin, but this is now getting mentioned more in the forums, on dcrainmaker and reddit so maybe the next person will be better informed.
You can do better Garmin – give as a decent firmware update!
