FR745 battery draining too fast?

Bike ride and a run on Tuesday evening - battery needed to be charged afterward so I got a full charge (100%) and then went to bed. The next evening I did an hour long run with HR and GPS. The following morning I did 30 minutes of swim (no gps, but still using HR). A few hours after that (about 36-38 hours after full charge) I'm at 78% battery. This seems like it's draining too quickly for 36 hours with an hour of GPS and 30 minute activity with no GPS. I do have HR running all day. I don't use O2sat. I have backlight setting all the way down, only at night time and wrist motion turned off during activity. Thoughts?

  • 1/4 battery drain in 1.5 days equates to full drain in 6 days. That seems OK.

  • 745 has up to 7 days battery life, and up to 16 hours with GPS. Do you own calculations, and you will have your answer.

  • Well when I first got my watch it would last almost 14 days. My watch is only 6 months old. I’m just concerned the degradation of the battery is occurring too quickly. But I suppose if they say “up to 7 days” then that’s technically still okay…

I would prefer if the battery was still as good as the day I got it. And 6 months doesn’t seem very long to me.

  • If your battery can last almost 14 days, that means your watch has only been charged like 15 times. Li-ion batteries are supposed to last for 500-1000 charges, so it's probably something in your usage that has changed.

  • Shoot, I have never seen the battery life that any of you are getting. Now I use my notifications heavily. I find it very useful to be able to triage emails from admin and text messages from the wife from my watch while teaching elementary kids. I also run my O2 sensor at night.

  • That’s fair. I don’t use O2 or notifications, no music, and back light is at its minimal use.

  • My 745 i charge every 4 days, sometimes 3 , don't use pulse ox,but use stryd and sometimes chest strap. I bought recently the 945 and the 2 weeks battery they claim is not true,i have to charge 2 times week,so battery life on Garmin is crappy. My Polar Grit X Pro battery was way better. But it is what it is,i charge my phone every day and sometimes 2 times on a day,so charge a watch 2 times on a week is nothing from other world
