Optional runs as part of a training plan

I've recently started using a training plan for a half marathon. What's the benefit of doing the optional runs as part of the plan? Will this help get me to my goal more quickly or do I need to do them if I want to reach the time I selected as my goal when I set up the plan?

  • If the proposed workout is too easy for you (it happen mainly in the first  5 or 6 weeks cause later workouts will become hard) you can train more completing the optional part. The more you train...more you'll get ( this doesn't mean you have to overtrain .... ;) )
