Charging port

I have to make sure my watch is positioned "just so" in order to charge it now. It's very tricky to get it to sit correctly so it will charge. Any suggestions on how to correct this? Nothing worse then plugging it in for 3 hours and come back to 10% battery life.

  • The charging cable connector plug that plugs into the back of the watch is sprung, i.e it has springs in which push the contacts on the cable plug against the contacts on the watch. It could be that the springs are worn or lazy and the plug is not making good contact with the watch. You could try carefully manually pushing down the connectors in the plug a few times to try and free them up. If this doesn’t work you could try a new charging cable. If your watch is in warranty Garmin support should be able to help. You can also purchase third party cables on eBay and elsewhere.

Alternatively it could be that the contacts on your watch or the charging cable plug are dirty, or the charging cable is beginning to fail.

    Hope this helps!
