Training load decreased after workout

Hi,

Weird situation.

2 days ago I had a  training load of approx 1400

The day after I had  a heavy (for me) MTB session of approx 2.30 hours....with 32km done etc.

I've burnet approx 1090 kcal and the watch states I had a 230 load score

Where is the problem? My total work load decreased instead of increasing.

yesterday it was 1100 (it was 1400 the day before).

Is that normal? Any ideas?

Thx

  • I think this training load number (1400) is a sum of all your trainings done past 7 days. You probably did some hard training with a load of 300 week ago and when 7 days past, sum was 1400-300=1100.  This (230 load) hard training was probably easier than training you did week ago. Then total sum decreases instead of increasing. Same thing is with 4 week training load.

  • nteresting idea....but checking the graphs I don't believe it's the correct one.

Check attachments for a better picture of what I mean

  • I think 1436 is a sum of all your trainings you did 9/4-9/10. 1032 is a sum of trainings you did 9/5-9/11. So it must be about 300 worth of load in 9/4 you lost when day past. Probably even more (530?) when you added 230 to sum in 9/11 but still lost 300 total.

Check your training history if number count like this..

  • I did and no....they are not the sum on 9/4 to 9/10 and 9/5 to 9/11 week...that's weird.

And above all..if you check my trends in those week...they are growing and not going down...nor the days before.

Is like MTB session has not been taken into calculation. Maybe the work load consider only run, swim and the CLASSIC bike?

  • Thats weird because i summed up my past week trainings and everything works fine just as i described. But i have only running and walking activities. 3 of both 9/7-9/13: 266+150+65+11+3+5=500 total load. Maybe it is some kind of bug with MTB training..?!

  • Yeah...I think it's a bug too...btw it's not a big problem...I will survive to it :)

Thx for your help in troubleshooting this mate and..keep pushing ;)

  • Hi Dikkia, I came across this thread because I could not understand my own training load numbers. My training load also dropped after completing a workout. I think is right in both our cases and your graph is actually is proof of it.

In my case I had done a much lighter training than I had done exactly one week before. The training load of the heavy training was subtracted from my 7-day load and the lighter training was added, resulting in a net drop of training load.

In your case we can see the same. There is a huge increase in training load between 3/9 to 4/9, meaning you pulled a heavy workout on 4/9. The load of that workout (from the graph I'm guessing a training load of 600 or higher) is subtracted from your 7-day training load on 11/9. The workout you did on 11/9 (with a training load of "only 230") was added to your 7-day training load, but the training load from 4/9 was subtracted at the same time, resulting in a net decrease of your 7-day training load. I'd be interested in the sum of the training load of all your workouts on 11/9, but I'd wager it adds up to around 600.

What's more, the same thing happened on 3/9, when the training load you gained on 27/8 was suddenly subtracted and on 1/9 the training load from 25/8 was subtracted.

In my case it added op perfectly in the end and looking at your graph I'd say everything probably adds up as well.

From what I hear the new Forerunner 955 has something called acute load and is a newer take on 7-day training load wherein training loads slowly degrade over time instead of being subtracted suddenly after 168 hours. Other devices may get this function too.

My confusion was relieved after looking at it like this, hope this helps you too.
