Intensity Minutes math is broken

How hard it should be to add two numbers?

  • I don't know exactly which screen is on the picture, but I believe that the top shows intensity minutes for the current day, and the bottom number shows weekly total.

  • Unfortunately, it's not the case. There was zero minutes for the current day when I took the photo. The numbers are for a week and they are utterly inconsistent.

But speaking of the current day. I took some exercises today (after the first photo). Here is the result:

How 170+30+43 equals 270 or  39+74+30+(2+48)*2 equals 270 is above my understanding. And seeing those random numbers on a single screen, I am starting to ask myself if the numbers on the watches and in the app make any sense at all?

  • How 170+30+43 equals 270

The 170+30+43 is a sum of intensity minutes accumulated during registered activities. But intensity minutes can accumulate also when not registering a timed activity. All that it takes is for your heart rate to be above certain threshold, so for example if you get too excited while watching your favourite football team on tv, then this might grant you some intensity minutes as well. So for the given example 170+30+43=243 minutes were accumulated during timed activities, while the remaining 27 were outside any timed activity.

  • Oh, I see. That makes sense. Thanks for the reply!
