This is not correct. As per this article, What Is the Recovery Time Feature on My Garmin Device?, and as evidenced on the 745 in the picture below, the recovery messages are currently able to be viewed on the watch. To view them, if you go to the training status widget, hit your top right button then scroll down to the recovery time page, if you have a recovery time message there will be a grey line indicator near the top right button.
