Wifi connection on vivoactive 4S isn't working

This morning I kept trying to download a Spotify playlist to my vivoactive 4S. Initially I was getting error code 010 over and over again. I reset the modem. I split 2.4 and 5G in the modem settings. I deleted my wifi network from the garmin connect app. Then re-established it. 

Now when I try to connect to wifi the test works well, but as soon as I try to download the playlist, after spending a while 'searching for wifi networks' I get the note 'unable to download certificates.'

I've spent hours trying and am feeling quite frustrated and tricked by garmin into buying an expensive item that cannot perform the function it claims to.

Any help to fix this issue would be greatly appreciated.
