Unreliable Optical HR at rest

I've been getting abnormal heart rate alerts while seated where the 745 optical heart rate sensor would report 130-168. During these periods I strapped on my old 935 which reported 56-65 on its optical HR sensor because I was getting worried that there could be something wrong with me physically. I also tried to measure my pulse with a finger on my carotid which tends to agree with the 935 HR readings.

The 745 has been giving these crazy alerts about 3-4 times per day in the past week.

Faced the same experience with my new 745 twice in a month; quite scary!

The first time it happened I panicked. I thought something terrible was happening to my heart. Subsequently when I was able to cross check with the older 935 I was relieved that I wasn't going to die or something. This watch is very buggy. Having buyer's remorse with being product launch guinea pig.

Yes, same feeling for me; never had that with my 645.... :(

I'm getting it so often a few times a week that I've taken to ignoring it when it happens and giving very frank advice to any friends thinking of buying new Garmin devices, ie if they really must get a Garmin, buy the older devices from the second hand market instead, and wait for current devices to get fixed firmware and discount pricing in a year or two.

Today I got a abnormal heart rate alert, and when I dismissed it to see what heart rate triggered it, it showed 75 bpm. So yeah, marvelous firmware. Glad these are not certified medical devices because the standard is so low.

Very disappointing from a brand like Garmin. I think I had better HR measurement on my 645....
