New 745 - Strange Button Feeling

Hello,

I proudly upgraded from a 735XT to a 745 and I like the various improvements.

What is strange for me is the feeling - to top right button has no response, no click and the others have it. Sometimes more, sometimes less but they do.

This leads to the result, that I am not sure if my button push worked and I always have to double check...

The functionallity is still ok, when i press enough, but this sounds like a production issue, or what do you guys think?

  • My top right button has a nice hearty click to it

  • I reached out to the OP directly; if anyone else is having this issue, @ me and I will be in contact with you directly as well.

  • hi @garmin-brooks  two buttons have strange feeling, top and middle ones on the left.   FR745. thanks

  • Similar for me... not exactly what you're feeling, but most of the buttons don't have a real click to them; the upper right (START/STOP) has a kind of double-click... when I press it, it goes down about halfway, and kind of stops.  If I push harder, it continues, I hear a click, then stops again.  It also feels slightly wiggly (not unstable, but not as solid as the other buttons).  The bottom right button has a bit more play/click, but the rest of the buttons have more of the feel I'd expect (stable, not much play, etc).

I called Garmin Support, and the person there said that he didn't have a sample FR745 to check, but he'd heard this is similar to the FR945 design, and that they haven't had any complaints about it yet.

I have an FR935 (not FR945), and all the buttons feel the same, though the upper right (START/STOP) button has a bit more play.  In general, I prefer the feel of the buttons on the FR935 to that of the FR745.

  • Hi  - I also have a strange feeling in the top right button on my FR745.  See my detailed post above.

  •  For my case, the up and down buttons do not have any click feel or sound when pressed, but the start, back and light buttons do have audible click. The start, back and light buttons when releasing the finger from the press, I can feel there is a 2 step tactile feedback. However the up and down buttons, while not loose, feel distinctly different from the other 3. Not sure if this is intended design, or there are QC issues.

  • I got my new 745 two weeks ago. All my buttons work well with same click.  I come from 945 and yes, the start button have strange mushy click to it!  Most sent it in, but I kept mine.  The 945 have Rev A on the box.  This new 745 have no revision #.

  • Are you saying that your upper-right button DOES behave differently than the others, or it behaves exactly the same?  And also, are you saying that all buttons (except possibly the upper right) have EXACTLY the same feel/audible-click/etc?

  • Mine don't all feel uniform either. Start/stop and back noticably more mushy/wobbly. Brand new, bought it today.

  • I wonder what causes all this variance in Garmin device button feel.  Weird quality control issues...
