Joking aside though, it seems like the 945 is still a superior watch and can be had for nearly the same price (even cheaper, actually, if you're willing to go refurbished).

in Austria you get the 945 for ~480€ brandnew, while 745 costs 499€. it will also become cheaper but for the release of 745 you can buy the 945 for less.

Yeah, that's what I don't get.  I spent 499 on my 945 at the Garmin Black Friday sale last year...  where is the market for this $499 745?

We need to get everyone on board with not buying it until the price comes down. Or a 655 comes out. Or they raise the price of the 245 so that the extra money for the 745 seems like a deal. Or, most likely, they raise the price of the 945 so you feel like you are saving money with the 745.

The problem with that approach, as logical as it is, is Garmin will say "Guess people aren't interested in the 7xx line, and tank it.  I was eagerly awaiting this watch, but was disappointed with the price/specs.  So as of right now, I'm looking forward to the successor to the 945, and hoping at that point the 945 will be reduced to my price range.  What I'm really looking for is a 645 with multisports and maps.  The 945 is overkill for me, but the 745 came up too short.  

I’m wanting a top end running watch without multisport, which the 645 was but now needs an update. I basically want a 245 with LT calculation and audio prompts for lap intervals. The 745 has too much of stuff I don’t need/want for too much money.

They should've included maps and called it the 945s.

When Forerunner 755?
