How to disable Garmin coach pace alerts?

Hi Garmin community,

I've been toying around with the Garmin coach feature and it's nice to have it automatically create a race plan for you. However, I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to disable or mute the pace alerts that come with any of the Garmin coach workouts.

For instance, my "slow run" is 8:01-9:01 but there are days where I want to take it a bit slower (say 9:30~10:00) pace. The watch then keeps beeping every 15-20 seconds cause I'm in the red zone. Now, I want to keep using Garmin coach to log and finish the workout, but it's super annoying to have it constantly beep - anyone know how to disable or mute them? Note that this isn't a manual pace alert (I don't have any custom alerts in the Run Settings) but the one associated with a Garmin coach workout.

Thanks in advance for any insight and help!

  • Did you ever find a solution to this? Really driving me crazy!

  • Maybe this work. You can disable the Alarm Tunes or Warnings Tune from the System sections

  • I don't think it applies to pace alert in a structured workout unfortunately. But let me know if this works for you.

  • Possible partial answer for some (which would be unsatisfactory to me)...

I'm jumping on the bandwagon to ask Garmin to give the option to turn off pace alerts in Garmin Coach workouts. Especially with hard segments in the dark, the only alerts I want are when segments start/end. Also, as MurphysLaw said, pace alerts on easy runs are ridiculous and irritating and really reduces the value of what is otherwise a pretty nice feature.

But, for those who don't like the beeping (depending on your watch and firmware (I have Fenix 5 v25.00) you can go to Settings | System and toggle Alert Tones and Vibration on or off and I believe that applies to Garmin Coach workouts (and all other alerts). I have Alert Tones off and Vibration on. Still, that's annoying during a structured workout. I don't want to get buzzed 5 times during a 1-minute interval.

  • My understanding is that if you toggle Alert Tones and Vibration off, you will also lose the beeping when an interval starts or ends. For me this is crucial information or otherwise I would need to constantly look at my watch to know when to run or rest.

I now train using Rated Perceived Exertion (RPE) instead of pace for most of my runs. So no more beeping but you need a better understanding of how to measure your RPE. It takes some adjusting and I still wish Garmin would do something about pace alerts beeps!

  • why is this still a thing? here it is, "over 3 years later" and we STILL cannot turn off the annoying pace beeping and buzzing. I still want the countdown between laps and repeats, but not the incessant buzz that im running "too fast". I'm recovering from a surgery and so im starting out slowly, but Garmin coach has me "running" at 13:00/mile for easy runs. it is literally impossible to run that slowly. That's walking. I don't want to walk.

  • I have the same problem. Kind of.

Used the coach some time but had to stop it due to a knee injury. Now when i run ("normal mode", not coach) it's going crazy when my pulse gets to high. Very annoying.

Maybe the only solution is to hard reset the watch.
