Is the Forerunner 55 watch band mount improved from the Forerunner 45? My Forerunner 45 watch band mount fails twice and I hope the Forerunner 55 watch band mount is more reliable.

My old Forerunner 35 watch band mount has never failed.

Yes, it's a standard 20mm band. You can also buy cheap bands on AliExpress or amazon

My Forerunner 45 has the watchband that is held on by (four) screws - that is what you are asking about? My Forerunner 55 has a more standard way of attaching the watch band with two compressible posts - I see how to take it off but have not needed to.

How did your watch band mount fail?

Twice the plastic that the screws thread into failed (snapped). I keep my old Forerunner 35 handy for when I need to return a failed Forerunner 45. First time the mount failed, I returned the watch to Garmin and they gave me a free replacement. Second time the mount failed, I returned the failed Forerunner 45 and Garmin charged $100 for a replacement,. I'll try the Forerunner 55 next time my Forerunner 45 band mount fails.
