I am buying a new Garmin 55. Will it connect to Strava etc using my Desk-top PC running Windows 7 Home Premium?

As my TOMTOM Runner 3 is no longer supported and all software has been removed, I am buying a new Forerunner 55. Can I use it via my Home PC running Windows 7 Home Premium?

Thanks

Jon

  • All Garmin devices connect to Strava via Garmin Connect app. It has nothing to your laptop or OS there.

  • I don't have any mobile phone and can't use Apps and never have but always managed TOMTOM via my PC, into Strava. Will Garmin Connect run on my Desk-top PC running Windows 7 Home Premium to link to Strava? I have been told it need Windows 10, please confirm, many thanks.

  • 1. Garmin Connect - main app for tracking your results/performance/etc. and connecting with other services (Strava). There are two ways of using it - Web and phone app.

    2. For PC there is Garmin Express app. It is mainly for maintaining your devices.

    3. I suspect (but not totally sure) that syncing your devices via Garmin Express will upload all sports activities to Garmin Connect and then to Strava.

    4. But Garmin Express system requirements - at least Windows 10.

  • They have an option for downloading the last version of Garmin Express which supported Windows 7, but it is unsupported, meaning it may work or it may not, but there are no guarantees.
