no heart rate alerts

Help!

I’ve done lots off googling, but can’t see what I’m doing wrong.

I’ve bought a Forerunner 55, and I want it to do just one thing: to alert me when my heart rate moves outside my “zone 2” range of 99 to 116 BPM.

First, to avoid possible conflicts, I uninstall the CONNECT app from the phone.

Now I do all the following on the watch.

--- User Profile (...I set my heart rate info: max BPM, zones etc).

---Activity Tracking  -> [all settings off]

---System -> Sounds -> Alert Tones -> On

---System -> Sounds -> Vibration  -> On

I then set an Alert for zone 2, and view to confirm:

---Activities & Apps -> RUN -> Run Settings -> Alerts -> Heart Rate: 99-116 BPM

As I run, I go over 116 BPM numerous times, staying in the 120s for a while, but I never get a beep or vibrate.

For the next run, I deleted that alert and this time selected the ‘custom’ option, and entered 100 to 120 BPM.

I view to confirm:

---Activities & Apps -> RUN -> Run Settings -> Alerts -> Heart Rate 100 - 120 BPM

Same thing happens: I go over 120 BPM, and no beep or vibrate.

I’ve seen some similar existing posts, but they seem to involve complications not relevant to my situation.
