What is the aim of the Cardio activity?

I have been playing with creating strength and cardio workouts in Connect web. Very useful, or I thought it would be. Although FR55 has no Strength activity, it does have Cardio. But it's not actually possible to transfer Cardio workouts from Connect. A bit disappointing. So I'm a bit puzzled as to what to do with the Cardio activity on the watch itself. Is that used just for monitoring heart zone activity?

It seems that in reality, there are only four basic activities, walk & run (real or treadmill), intervals, and (any) timed activity (pilates, yoga, cardio, elliptical, other etc.). The latter group seem to have no customizable aspects except for which data fields are shown and they seem to be the same regardless of whichever 'activity' is chosen.

Although I mostly bought this watch for running, I'm feeling a bit restricted by the above. Am I missing something about customizations?

  • Most of these profiles or apps are pure Markering and useless.
you can create and transfer any kind of workout when you create and edit these in the Bike Indoor app, add any kind of comment which will then be shown during workout and transfer it to the FR55.
Then the workout including comments will be found under the bike or bike indoor (no GPS = less battery drain)

Do your workout, after ending and synching it to the App edit the finished workout on the phone and change it from bike to f.e Cardio or Yoga or whatever...

I do that every day and have Rowing workouts, Yoga and Strength workouts I am doing like that, using comments like "Stand bend forward stretch" which I wrote into the comment field during workout edit on the Phone. Pops up during workout, and this is all I need.

  • It does seem to be a bit gimmicky. Thanks for those tips. I will also need rowing and strength options so I shall have to experiment with the Bike Indoor part - I hadn't even seen there was an indoor version! So much still to find out!

  • it is no big deal at all. Just use the garmin connect app to set up Workouts as biking, sync the watch and find them under the indoor biking app.

After the workout sync the watch again and edit the workout to change from bike to rowing etc

I tried other garmin watches, much more expensive ones... and found them not worth the price.

Strokerates and strokes are not measured reliably at all... not worth it
