I was just given a Forerunner 55 as a present but the wrist heart rate monitor doesn't work on me. I think it is because I have tattoos on my arms and wrists (almost all black). It works immediately on my wife but as soon as I put it on myself nothing is registered. It registers my heart rate if I put it on untattooed skin elsewhere on my body but obviously that is no good. Is this normal? Is there anything that can be done (apart from tattoo removal!)? I haven't been able to find any info advising the monitor won't work on someone with tattoos. Thank you
