Forerunner 35 - malformed FIT file

I've seen others have this issue before - I finished a fairly long ski and saved it on my watch, but when I try to sync my Forerunner 35 to Garmin I get a message "One of your files was not accepted by the system" and when I try on Strava the error "the upload appears to be malformed and we are unable to process it." Is anyone able to help fix the file? I saw there's an app that apparently works but it's for PC and I have a Mac. I attached the file:

And any ideas to prevent this happening in the future?

Sync your watch, backup the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder, then do a full master reset of your Forerunner 35 using these directions - Restoring All Default Settings

Perform a weekly cleanup of the \GARMIN\ACTIVITY folder using these directions - Removing Recorded Activities to Free Up Space. The F35 seems to have problems with longer activities, so this step is important before a longer event

Regularly check for firmware updates using Garmin Express

Some suggestions to help minimize the occurrence of corrupt fit files on a Forerunner 25

Avoid pressing stop or pause during an activity.
