Damaged files - not uploading when syncing Forerunner 35

I am experiencing error messages when trying to upload some of my activities from my Forerunner 35.

I'm getting the dreaded error messages stating "unsupported file type".

Please can anyone suggest how I can fix these files - or even help me doing so?

Further - does anyone know what causes these issues so I can avoid in the future?
