Garmin Race Widget drops Primary Race

I picked a race event in Garmin Calendar, a training plan was created, and every day I go to the race Widget and pick the Daily Suggested Workout.

Two or three times a week I look at the race Widget on my watch and it says 'No Race Selected," I go into Garmin connect, click the event, and click 'send to device'.  Then sync it to the watch. And then the watches Race Widget now shows the event and the correct DSW.

Sometimes it is there on the watch race Widget and often it is not and I have to do the sync dance.

What's up with this? I don't think it is a user error, I don't really mess with it except when i'm going for a run.

    Thank you for reporting this. I've had the same issue - it's been the sync dance every day it seems like. I thought it was the software, but that wasn't it. I thought I needed to reboot, and that wasn't it. I'm now thinking that it happens after every time I charge it. I plan to monitor the situation. I'm frustrated with Garmin - this was an expensive watch. I was thinking about upgrading my 955, but after this I'm now looking at my buddies Coros. We'll see if Garmin cares.

    I've found that when races start disappearing from my 255 after a software update you have to reboot the watch. Each time you reboot a race will disappear. Keep doing it until they are all gone. Then you can add them from garmin connect again.  Its a nuisance and it's happening after various updates.  Looks like Basil Fawlty is in charge of software development

    My problem isn't getting them "all gone," my problem is getting them to stay on my Forerunner 955S. After my run an hour ago, I saw Boston Marathon on my watch. I powered it off and then charged it while I made dinner. Now I put it on and checked --- it's GONE, once again. This is very annoying that I have to do this every time I charge my watch. Maybe it's time to try to sell this thing and join the growing Coros users.

    It did it again today.   My Garmin Coach running plan had a threshold run scheduled for today. It's the last day of the "Build Phase" and tomorrow is supposed to begin the "Peak Phase" 

    My preferences are:

    Every Day - Days Available
    Sun - Long Run Day
    Auto - Running Workout Target
    No Strength Workouts - Strength Workouts

    I have the Garmin Race Widget on my 265s.   Most days I look at the widgets and it shows the upcoming race. Occasionally, and today, I look at the race Widget and it says "no primary event selected".

    I log into Garmin Connect, open the race, click 'send to device".   I sync the watch, and now the race shows up in there Garmin Race Widget.  

    In another couple of days, it will be gone again.

    This is a bug, right? I don't think it is user caused.

    Today, I went out to run.  Flipped around to the Primary Race Widget glance and it said no primary race set. I went into Garmin Connect, opened up my primary (only) race and clicked save to device.   Sync'd, and it was now on the watch. Then I did the suggested work out.

    265 Primary Race Widget glace broken? Yup.
