I suggest contacting support directly.
The lack of communication and a fix is making Garmin look bad, as if they don't care. It would be really easy for them to just supply the old firmware.
Garmin has moved to a quarterly release schedule for patches, updates, etc. At least I think that is what I read on DCR website. If that is true, let's hope that when Garmin does push out its next set of updates, an update to the 265 is included.
I am semi optimistic that we will get our update. Garmin continued to work with owners of the FR745 long after the watch was no longer being sold to address the issue of incorrect elevations. Enough of us have reported issues with the optical heart rate sensor that I hope Garmin is listening and will address the issue.

Hi. My apologies for spamming all of you.
I am reaching out to ask you for feedback on the Garmin FR265 optical heart rate issue. Can I ask one of you to read through the posts on the forum and take our feedback back to the engineering team to address the issue(s)?
I understand the FR265 has been surpassed by other, more recent models. And the FR265 may be out of product support. However the FR265 is a very good watch. The optical HR though, which used to work quite well, now does not function properly. The consensus is this might be because of bad OS update.
Can one of you please take our concerns back to the engineers and provide us with an update? Is the issue being looked in to? Will an update be coming?
I thank you for your time and help.
HA, DC, Good for you, it's just what I was thinking about doing, putting out a message and referencing about every Garmin rep I could identify. I've even spent a little time (without much success) trying find Garmin Director contact information. I've convinced myself that the effort it likely just spitting into the wind, maybe all the Garmin Reps (that post here) are just AI bots; but it's cheap to try anyway!
FR265s owner here. Since about few weeks ago every run I do has this insane HR race at the beginning of every run. It's not me it's the watch, I'm sure of it. Sometimes hits 200bpm
Currently on 27.09. Must be this update. Please fix!!

Thanks gxgene1 Fingers crossed someone from Garmin is reading the forums and gets back to us. I figured for the cost of a forum post, why not?
6650593 Here's hoping a new firmware release will be forthcoming soon. Sounds like someone might have managed to update to 27.20 which addressed the issues we are all having.
I'm experiencing that exact problem after the update too. I call it "the bubble." The HR is so high that it's impacting the average HR for each activity and causing my VO2 max to drift down since the update. I know that the sensor has never been that precise before the update, but it has been, for the most part, consistent in how it behaves such that I could get reliable data on overall trends.
