HR and GPS issues since the 27.09 update

The wrist HR monitor always takes a minute or two to accurately report heart rate when I start an activity. Usually it under reports, but once it locks in it's fairly reliable with the exception of a few hiccups along the activity, but after the update the heart rate over reports by a lot after a few minutes into the activity. It jumps up to zone 5 and then moves erratically around 3 and 4 when I'm only doing a zone 1 or 2 intensity. It also appears to momentarily under reports pace at times when I'm holding a steady speed so that the average lap pace will change dramatically. I'm not seeing any erratic paths that correspond with that error when reviewing the activity that would indicate GPS dropout. I can't say for certain either problem is related to the update only that I've never noticed these particular problems before.

  • I'm having a similiar issue, its definately related to the firmware update.

  • I've also some issues

The GPS is not working, the sleep tracking is not working, and the wrist heart rate is either working or not working. The watch is slowing down, and the battery has gone from 86% to 9% overnight.

Do you have information on how to roll back the firmware, or where to download and how to upload the old firmware?

  • I’m having similar issues with the accuracy of heart rate monitoring since the 27.09 update. Hopefully Garmin can let us know what’s going on/fix the issue soon.

  • Yes, mine has been stable for a year, and now the HR jumps wildly.

Tonight recovery run and my hr jumped to 150.  I stopped and walked for about five seconds and it dropped to 80, I started my recovery again and it rose normally to 100 or so.

I was never anywhere near 150.  Same thing in my last run.

    Ir is a new problem

  • Yeah stopping the watch seems to stabilize the HR for me too. It's usually the same problem every run: I start the activity and for the first few minutes the HR steadily climbs until it tops out in my zone 5 then it starts wildly swinging. Eventually it just settles to something that appears normal for my activity. I've switched the GPS to best accuracy and that may have helped, but I haven't done enough activities to know for sure. I don't know why GPS would impact the HR monitor. Suffice it to say for the last few weeks all my recoveries are easy, all my easy runs are tempos, etc. -- Junk in. Junk out.
