Music unstable on BT (another thread!)

Hi, like many I got the 265 to pl;ay music without my phone. I have tried everything that has been suggested here and by ChatGPT to no avail. I am using quite cheap BT earphones, Jesebang YT18 but they are very well reviewed and I find them great in general. However, after 10 minutes, or maybe just less, they start glitching. Initially it is infrequent but then over the course of a minute it becomes very frequent and unlistenable. I turned the earphones off and back on, reconnected and then same thing happens, again, aroiund 10 minutes. Garmin support have been useless but if anyone has any new suggestions or a vague idea WHY this might be happening I would really appreciate it. I would buy new earphones if I was 100% sure they would work, even though that's ridiculous, but obviously I have no way of knowing.

  • I agree.  There are about three main issues that can happen

    1. Watch software/hardware issues.
    2. Line of sight to earbud transmitter
    3. earbud software/hardware issues

Garmin is motivated to have there stuff work and has put resources into making it better. Less likely with a current watch this is the problem.

Line of sight is a combo of both devices and is tricky to resolve.

Earbud issues--you said it, they are cheapo.  The manufacturer doesn't have any incentive to make it work with a tiny garmin watch when 99% of their customers have large powered Bluetooth transmitters in their iPhone.

It's probably the earphones.  Make them into ewaste and try again with something else. Price isn't the main factor it is just if they work or not.

  • Ok, I've ordeered the JBLs...fingers crossed! £50 for coral-coloured, rather than £70 for a decent colour!

  • After a couple of duds, I found the JBL Endurance SPRINT, cheap earbuds for running.

The worked great.  After they wore out in a couple of years, I bought another pair and I'm still using those. I think they stopped making them, so I might pick up a third future-proof pair just to have on hand.

    Good luck.

  • Just had my first run with the JBL Endurance Peak and problem solved. Bit *** that the watch only works with limited earphones but glad I've got it sorted. I'm not sure the sound quality is amazing on these and they are quite heavy but they PLAY MUSIC! Happy days. Cheers all.

  • Recently, I also had issues connecting headphones to the watch, even though I followed all the steps suggested here and elsewhere online.
What eventually resolved the issue was resetting the watch.

  • I recently bought a 265s to replace my 745 (I received a slight discount from Garmin because the screen backing had come lose on my out-of-warranty 745, another very frequent "feature").  I´ve immediately run into exactly this problem with my Soundcore v20i earphones that worked flawlessly with the 745.

Based on this thread, and several others, I know this is a problem that Garmin has no intention of fixing and there is no guarantee that changing earphones will help. Having experienced similar issues with my Vivoactive 3 after a firmware update, I am done with Garmin and my 265s is on its way back to Garmin for a refund..

Thank you to everyone who has posted their experience here and saved me from suffering the frustration of trying to resolve this problem with Garmin.  I feel like this thread should be pinned to the top of the discussion for board as a warning to any potential future customers.
