Wifi network unable to connect despite connecting previously

Tldr; Phone connected to the wifi network refuses to show the network when connecting via my watch.

This might be a niche error, but in the chance that it isnt, here goes.

I had a lot of trouble connecting to my wifi network the first time (a few months ago), and then I have since only done the spotify wifi "update downloads" thing a few times since then.

I went to do it today and my network didnt connect, so I tried to restart the process of connecting to the network and it wouldnt find it. Tried manually connecting with the info, but still no luck.

I have reinstalled spotify, reinstalled the garmin connect app, removed and readded my watch to my account, restarted the watch and phone multiple times, and added my watchs MAC address to the wifi network i  case that was an issue. All come to nothing. I cant remember what i did last time, and the funny thing is that even when connecting my watch to a network I have to use my phone...which is connected to that same network, but refuses to show it in the list!

  • Pardon me if I'm preaching to the choir but the computer guy in me has to wonder. I'm assuming you've done a power down restart of the wireless router (probably more than once I'd guess), but if not, that's worth a shot. It's also worth checking to see if there's a firmware upgrade for the router but if yours is like mine it's out of date enough that updates went away some time ago, but again worth a shot. The MAC address was a nice touch! Anything in the router's logs that might give a hint?

I haven't bothered to add my WIFI to the watch, I've just used the cable. I may have to play around with it.

  • Hi, thanks for the reply :)

Yes i've done a full restart of the router, the watch, the phone i use to connect to the watch, and a mixture of the three during the few times of uninstalling and reinstalling.

The logs on the router never even show that my watch has tried to access the network, which is what i find strange about it all. It could just be a lacking info page, but yeah, seems odd.

And the watch has connected to this network before (also was a pain), but garmin are saying they wont help me because it shouldnt connect to the network because it uses 2.4 and 5ghz bands (despite it doing so previously).

I only wanted the wifi to download updates faster to the watch, and sync spotify as you need to do that every so often to verify you have a paid subscription. So i cant use the music feature of the watch basically haha
