Forerunner 265s – Vibration not working for smart notifications (calls still vibrate) after update to 25.06

Hi Garmin Support team,

I’m experiencing an issue with my Forerunner 265s since updating to software bundle 25.06 [DFU-5e6810].

Smart notifications from texts and apps arrive correctly and appear in the widget glance, but the watch no longer vibrates when they come through.

Incoming call alerts still vibrate normally.

Vibration motor works fine when tested via Settings → System → Sounds → Vibration → Test Vibration.

I’ve confirmed:

• Vibration = On / High intensity

• Tone & Vibration enabled in Notifications

• Battery Saver and Do Not Disturb off

• All permissions granted in Garmin Connect

• Re-paired device through Garmin Connect (not Bluetooth menu)

• Soft and factory reset both completed

This suggests the vibration trigger for smart notifications may not be firing correctly in firmware 25.06.

Could you please confirm if this is a known issue, and if a fix or patch is in progress?

Device: Forerunner 265s

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S24 (Android 14)

Garmin Connect App: latest version

Thanks very much — happy to provide logs if needed.

  • This started to happen for me as well and I figured out that it stems from the fact that when my phone is in DnD then smart notifications on the watch won't vibrate. When I turn off DnD on my phone the smart notifications vibrate again.

I have absolutely no idea why these two (DnD Phone and DnD Watch) suddenly started to be in sync but it messes up my setup. I want my phone to be silent and not vibrate but my watch should.

Note that I use a forerunner 965 though.

  • Turned DnD off on my phone and smart notifications are vibrating on my watch again! How strange that its only working when I do that. Thank you for the suggestion!
