Problem with elevation Forerunner 265s

I have already read all problem related topics in Forum, bu to me it seems that my problem is a bit different.

My fFR265s constantly adds elevation to my activities, also it gives me 2-3x 10 flights of stair climbed in a day, when  I'm nowhere near that.

Example:

This was simple bike ride, same in both directions. FR gives me 350+ m of elevation, when in reality its closer to 100 (as seen in DEM corrected elevation graph)

Recorded graph:

DEM Correvted graph:

No wind, no change in weather, no water.

Also, I would go for a run on completely flat circular track and it would give me 70-120m of elevation, which does not make sense.

This would happen with every activity.

What I already tried:

-Resetting

-Cleaning the barometer port

-Calibrating before every activity

-changing Altimeter settings from "auto" to "Altimeter only" to "barometer only"

No luck.

Is it hardware of software problem?

  • It feels like too many of us all of a sudden developed this problem.

  • i thinks its the same issue. mine showed the same symptoms. the elevation drifts even if you dont move at all. it seems like Garmin is aware of the problem and replaces the watch without any issue. To me,  if they would have allowed DEM data by default  i wouldnt mind it too much, but since you can only change the elevation source manually, i got mine replaced

  • If I am understanding the issue correctly, do you swim with your watch?  According to posts I've read here and on Reddit Cl2 is going to mess with the altimeter after prolonged exposure.  That could be the reason for you elevation issues.

  • It was a bit in water, showers and such, but not prolong stays (i dont swim). i now take it off when showering, etc.

  • Hmm.  In that case I am out of ideas except for calling in to Garmin support to see what they can tell you.  I did at one point have to do some jiggery-pokery with my watch to reset the altimeter on the 745 when I was having elevation issues.  Perhaps the same thing needs to be done here?  There might be FAQs on the website on how to do this.  Wish I had more information for you.  Sounds frustrating.

  • I'm having this problem for some months.. and after trying a lot of things it seems to me that it's a hw problem that includes the temperature sensor in the FR265 also, because I was looking at my activities and noticed that it was registering higher temperatures (I live in Brazil so it's summer right now).

So after this I started to notice that when I'm in colder places with air conditioner the altitude goes up and when I'm running and the body gets warmer my altimeter was going down.

Unfortunately I can't replace my watch so it's very dissapointing but now i'm planning to get another brand for my next watch.
