vo2 max chart gridlines offset

Why does the VO2 Max chart within the watch have the gridlines offset?

In my example the middle of the chart is major gridline 53, the very top of the chart is major gridline 54.

But my VO2 max is displayed as 54 and the threshold appears to be the minor gridline in between 53 and 54.

This happens at all VO2 max levels, i.e. between 52 to 53 and so on

@Garmin can you fix this bug?

  • You only see the 53 and 54 as whole numbers when in fact there are decimals behind it.

So the first one could be 53.5 and the second 53.7 as an example

  • Yeah I get what you mean, its very likely the calculation has more precision (decimals) behind the scenes and this is not shown to the user.

Simply Garmin just round it up or down then? @garmin can you confirm if this is the case?

That's rather silly as essentially it will offset the VO2 Max value by +0.5 better than the true value, both on this chart and the main watch screen. My example displays 54 when in reality its only 53.x and makes the chart labels confusing and out of place.

It would be better to either round down, or better still show 1 digit after the decimal point.

It's a bit like targeting a sub 20 min 5k and can currently run it in 20 mins 29 seconds, then rounding it to the nearest minute kidding yourself on that you have met your target.

  • I agree on the fact it should reflect decimals on the screen .You can see the figs to decimals in the fit file if you use fit file viewer , also if you use Runalyze and use the VO2 per fit file setting to view it.

I find when this field gets to about x.3 it seems to round up the whole digit.

  • This is confirmed on how we portray it on the widget.  thank you!

  • thanks for the FIT file viewer suggestion. I may look at the odd file but I'm not that fussed about it, I just need to take the watch widget with a pinch of salt or remove it from the main watch screen.
